Symbolically, at 5 to 12 o'clock on Saturday, the citizens of Tuzla took to the streets for a fresh protest after a series of tragic events disturbed both this city as well as the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the region. They installed a 'wall of screams' where citizens left their messages. Many of them called for resignations, but also shared their tragic experiences.

Nedzad Kahrimanovic, the organizer, said the protest would go on until the citizens' demands are met.

"It is 5 to 12, indeed. It's not just a cliché, it's true," he stressed, noting that negative events keep happening in Tuzla Canton.

"I expect us to send a strong message, no matter how many of us there are. I hope that we will succeed in our intentions and that we will not give up on it," he said.

The 'wall of screams' will be there, Kahrimanovic said, for the authorities to come and look at it.

He cited one of the messages from there saying "it's time for them to leave," stressing that "they drove us mad for 30 years" - referring to the period after the end of the war of the 1990s.

Only days after a child abuse scandal in this Bosnian city, which involved even police officers, a fire in a retirement home killed 11 elderly on the site and two more succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

It triggered rage among the citizens, as the authorities did not show firm resoluteness to solve the cases nor did they offer resignation for ethical reasons.

Over the recent few years, Tuzla region was also disturbed by a few murders, one of them involving off duty police officer who killed Kahrimanovic's sister.

"There is no system, everything is falling apart," he said today during the protest.

"Nothing happened after the murder of my sister, where a high-ranking official within the Ministry of the Interior of the Tuzla Canton killed her for no reason with one bullet and confirmed it with another 15 bullets," he added.

Only a few citizens were willing to speak to media today, visibly moved by everything happening in their city.

"They say children are our future, but our children are being raped, pensioners are being killed - what's next? Tuzla was once a model city, a city of love and progress. Tuzla is at rock bottom today," one of them said.
