The Union of Persons and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) organized a peaceful gathering in front of the Pazaric Institute for persons with disabilities on Saturday over the recent shocking video allegedly showing Pazaric employees beating a person with disabilities.

“We call on all people with disabilities, as well as all citizens who want to show solidarity with us, to attend this rally. With our presence, we want to show our support to all the people staying at the Institute and their families, as well as to all the honourable and dedicated employees who do their work professionally and with a lot of empathy,” organizers said earlier in a press release.

Adnan Dervisevic, the President of the Union of Persons with Disabilities in the FBiH, said that one of the main demands is the dismissal of the leadership of this public institute, because “four years after the first unpleasant scenes, similar things are happening again…”

“I think it's time for someone who wants and knows how to do a job that is one of the most difficult and noble callings to come here. By the end of next week, we expect that they themselves, if they have any morals in them, will resign. We are asking for another meeting with the competent minister and the Prime Minister. We asked for a meeting before, however, no one contacted us on this issue,” Dervisevic said.

He stated that the problem cannot be solved by firing the worker who beat the resident of the Pazaric Institute because “there are many problems.”

Among those gathered was a citizen of Belgrade, Serbia, who came to support those gathered. He told N1 that he was “familiar with all the events” and that this situation “is not pleasant at all.”

Latifa Pajic from Sarajevo said that she personally had a problem with the social services and that “serious criminals” are being dealt with in those institutions.

“I have been fighting with them for six years. They attacked my cousin at the moment when his mother died, they did not introduce themselves and said where they were taking him. He got diabetes from the stress. That was a criminal offense and I sued them,” said Pajic.

She stated that she turned to the authorities, specifically the director of social services, but he rejected her by saying that he was “powerless.”

“I would punish whoever appointed him so incompetent. Why didn't they appoint him as a porter, then,” the indignant citizen said.
