Professor Dr. Emir Solakovic, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most respected surgeons, has passed away in Sarajevo.
Solakovic served as head of the Vascular Surgery Clinic at the Clinical Centre of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) and later founded his own private hospital in the Bosnian capital.
He is also remembered for his contributions during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, having co-founded a wartime hospital in besieged Sarajevo in 1992.
Born in 1954 in Sarajevo, Solakovic spent most of his life and professional career in the city. In addition to his distinguished medical career, he was a familiar face in the media, known for simplifying complex medical topics for the general public. His recent appearance on the talk show Pressing drew significant public attention.
His passing marks a major loss for the Bosnian medical community and society at large, especially for his patients, friends, and neighbours who deeply admired and loved him.
