Restoration of faith: First Eid prayer in Milatkovici after 82 years

The mosque was destroyed during World War II, leaving the local community without a primary place of worship for 82 years. The initiative for its reconstruction was launched by the late Salko Pasic and successfully completed by his sons. According to Avdo Sisic, the Chief Imam of the Gorazde Majlis, the recent Ramadan also saw the first Tarawih prayer at the site since the 1940s. While the exact date of the original mosque's construction remains unknown, it is believed to date back to the Ottoman period. The reconstruction became possible after a legal process concluded in late 2021, which returned the waqf (endowment) land from municipal ownership to the Islamic Community.

An official opening ceremony for the newly rebuilt mosque is planned for this summer.

Throughout the Gorazde region, hundreds of faithful gathered for prayers across 24 different locations, including the prominent Kayseri Mosque. Across all congregations, the message of Raisu-l-Ulama Husein Kavazovic was shared, emphasizing themes of unity, hope, and spiritual renewal.
