A team of doctors from Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, led by the director of the RS University Clinical Center, Vlado Djajic, performed the first medical examination of the war criminal Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The medical team will perform another examination on Thursday. Head of the Clinic for Neurology of the University Hospital of Republika Srpska Sinisa Miljkovic pointed out that on Wednesday they focused on extensive documentation, as well as the therapy Mladic is receiving.

“We spent four hours talking to him. He had two strokes, he also has heart and psychosomatic issues and takes a large number of medications,” said Miljkovic for RTRS.

He emphasized that they also talked about physical, social and occupational therapy.

Ratko Mladic was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was found guilty of war crimes, including the genocide in Srebrenica, committed on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995. Also, he was found guilty of joint criminal enterprise committed in the area of Sarajevo.
