The Constitutional Court of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity rejected the request of the Bosniak lawmakers in the RS Council of the Peoples to review whether amendments to the RS Law on Agricultural Land violate the vital national interest of Bosniaks.
“The Council determined that the mentioned request is not acceptable, considering that the applicant pointed out in it, among other things, that the contested article of the Law is in contradiction with the Constitution of BiH and the Law on the Temporary Prohibition of the Disposal of Property of BiH, and that the Bosniak people connect their identity to the State of BiH which is attacked and denied by this Law”, the RS Constitutional Court said.
On September 14, the RS National Assembly adopted the Law on Amendments to the Law on Agricultural Land of the RS.
However, Bosniak members of the RS Council of Peoples warned that the law would enable the entity to take ownership of BiH state property.
“This law opens the possibility to transfer the ownership of state property from the municipality to the ownership of the RS. This is expressly prohibited by the decisions of High Representative Christian Schmidt,” Bosniak representative, Faruk Djozic, told N1 after the session.
