Despite sanctions, Republika Srpska achieved a 2.9% economic growth rate, which the president described as a testament to the resilience and sustainability of the region's economy. "Our economy has demonstrated success and stability," he stated.
Highlighting the financial performance of banks in Republika Srpska, he noted their substantial profitability and declared that the era of tolerating sanctions against RS officials and business owners has come to an end.
The introduction of a minimum wage of 900 Bosnian marks (some €450), the President asserted, has contributed to stabilizing internal financial flows. He briefly addressed concerns about decreased exports from RS but did not elaborate.
Dodik also discussed the entity's financial history and current economic standing. He noted that in 2014, RS had a debt of 5 billion marks (some €2.5 billion) and a gross domestic product (GDP) of 9 billion marks (some €4.5 billion). Today, the GDP has grown to 18 billion marks (some €9 billion), with the debt standing at 6 billion (€3 billion). "This is a very low debt level," he remarked.
Looking ahead, the President shared his optimism for the coming year, announcing plans to increase salaries across the region. He introduced new minimum wage standards effective immediately: 900 marks (€450) for unskilled workers, 1,000 marks (€500) for those with secondary education, and 1,300 marks (€650) for workers with higher education qualifications. He also projected that by 2026, the average salary in Republika Srpska would reach 2,000 Bosnian marks (around €1,000).
In addition, he revealed a 6% increase in January pensions, with further adjustments planned for September. "Pensions will be additionally increased in the fall," he stated.
Dodik also outlined plans to raise salaries for all public sector employees by 10% starting in April, with a significant 30% increase for police personnel in the Ministry of the Interior.
These announcements reflect the administration's focus on boosting economic stability, improving social welfare, and fostering growth in Republika Srpska amidst challenging circumstances.
