Vice President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity from the Croat people, Davor Pranjic, stated in Zagreb on Thursday that he believes there is no reason to fear an escalation of tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). However, he emphasized the need to send messages of peace and encourage dialogue.

"I don’t think there is" any reason to fear an escalation in BiH following the verdict against Republika Srpska leader Milorad Dodik and the inflammatory statements that followed, Pranjic said after meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. He thanked Plenkovic for his support of Croats in BiH, particularly in Republika Srpska.

He also stressed the importance of respecting the constitutional framework of BiH.

"Everyone must understand that no one is above the law; the law must be respected," he stated.

On February 26, the Court of BiH found Dodik guilty in a first-instance ruling for failing to implement decisions of the High Representative in BiH.

On Wednesday, Dodik refused to respond to summons from the BiH Prosecutor’s Office for questioning as a suspect, along with Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic and National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandic. The three are under investigation for alleged attempts to undermine BiH’s constitutional order.

On Thursday, an order was issued for their detention, which was forwarded to judicial police, raising concerns over potential incidents and an escalation of the situation.

"It is important to send messages of peace, to call for dialogue, and to avoid any radical rhetoric or narratives that could spread unrest among the people," Pranjic urged.
"We have heard enough harsh statements," he added.

Meanwhile, Milorad Dodik claims there is an ongoing "witch hunt against Republika Srpska" in BiH and warned that in a few months, the situation in the country could resemble the period before the dissolution of Yugoslavia.

"It must be made clear that peace and stability in BiH are the only acceptable outcome—not escalation or drastic measures that could have dire consequences," Pranjic stated, reiterating that no one is above the law.

"As Croat representatives, we advocate for BiH’s European path," he concluded.
