Russian television network Russia Today (RT) is set to establish a bureau in Banja Luka by the end of the year, marking the first Russian media office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to local media outlet CAPITAL.
As reported, the media network, managed by Russia’s Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “TV Novosti,” will coordinate this regional coverage from its RT Balkan headquarters in Belgrade, where a Serbian-language news portal was launched two years ago.
Plans include creating two news teams to cover events in Bosnia and Herzegovina and setting up a bureau in Kosovo.
RT, however, has been on the U.S. State Department's blacklist, accused of spreading Kremlin-aligned propaganda and disinformation.
Notably, in early March 2022, the European Union issued an urgent directive to suspend RT and Sputnik broadcasts across all EU member states. The decision cited concerns over Russian disinformation and information manipulation targeting the EU and its members.
