Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was among the top ten most polluted cities in the world throughout Sunday.
According to IQAir measurements, the pollution index in Sarajevo was at 171 at 6 pm local time, and the air was characterised as unhealthy.
"PM2.5 concentration in Sarajevo air is currently 18.9 times above the WHO annual air quality guideline value," said the IQAir website.
It is recommended to wear masks outdoors, close windows to avoid dirty outdoor air, run an air purifier in the house and not to engage in physical activities outside.
