Sarajevo attracts more than 83,000 tourists in October, arrivals up 10.7 percent

According to statistical data from the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board, 760,583 tourists visited Sarajevo in the January-October 2026 period, generating 1,729,154 overnight stays.

Compared to the same period in 2025, tourist arrivals increased by 2.3 percent, while the number of overnight stays also rose by 2.3 percent. Of the total number of tourists, 660,124 were foreign visitors and 100,459 were domestic tourists. Foreign visitors accounted for 1,533,510 overnight stays, while domestic tourists accounted for 195,644.

Positive trends in tourist arrivals were also recorded in October. The Sarajevo Canton welcomed 83,019 tourists that month, an increase of 10.7 percent compared to October 2025.

A total of 167,092 overnight stays were recorded, down 3.7 percent from the same month last year. October saw 71,892 foreign and 11,127 domestic tourists. Foreign visitors accounted for 149,742 overnight stays, while domestic tourists accounted for 17,350.

In terms of arrivals in October, the largest numbers of tourists came from Turkiye, China, Croatia, Serbia, the United States, Montenegro, Germany, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and Austria.

By the number of overnight stays among foreign visitors, the leading countries were Turkiye, Croatia, China, Germany, the United States, Serbia, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, and Israel.

The results confirm the continued growth in tourist activity in the Sarajevo Canton and the importance of international markets for tourism development.
