The Cantonal Inspectorate for Market and Tourism Inspection conducted a total of 865 inspections from January to September 2024 on entities engaged in tourism, including travel agencies, guides, and accommodation facilities. The purpose of these inspections was to improve the quality of tourism services and reduce the gray economy in this important economic sector of Sarajevo Canton.
A total of 232 offense notices were issued, amounting to 79,560 KM, due to identified irregularities, and additional measures were taken to ensure organizations operate in compliance with the law. The inspectors particularly focused on Baščaršija and the municipalities of Stari Grad and Trnovo, areas of high interest to tourists from around the world.
Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Nihad Uk emphasized the importance of these efforts.
“The Inspectorate's intensive work in the past period is crucial for enhancing the quality of the tourism offering and creating conditions for sustainable tourism development in Sarajevo Canton. Order and legality in tourism not only contribute to visitor safety and satisfaction but also directly support our economy. We will continue these measures to provide the best possible experience for both tourists and residents,” Uk stated.
He added that inspection controls will continue to focus on reducing the gray economy and improving overall management of Sarajevo Canton's tourism resources.
