The 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic is celebrated across the country with various events, as well as in Turkish diplomatic missions around the world.

The national holiday the Day of the Republic is celebrated on October 29 to commemorate the proclamation of the Republic of Turkiye in 1923. The Republic was proclaimed by the military leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who was then elected by the Grand National Assembly of the country as the first president of modern Turkiye.
