Bosnia and Herzegovina and its leaders have a historic opportunity and responsibility today, Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic said on Tuesday after she met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as well as prime ministers of Croatia and the Netherlands, Andrej Plenkovic and Mark Rutte, who were on an official visit to BiH.

She said it was a pleasure to welcome the leaders in Sarajevo and conveyed a message on this occasion.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina and its leaders have a historic opportunity and responsibility today. Europe shares the same task with its officials, sending us a message to continue working strongly on the reform road towards the opening of accession talks with EU,” said Karic.

Von der Leyen, Plenkovic and Rutte arrived in Sarajevo on Monday and a day later they held a series of meetings with Bosnian officials.
