Sarajevo opens Clinic for rape victims

The clinic provides a multidisciplinary approach in one place. This means that 'the victim no longer has to navigate the system; instead, the system reaches out to the victim'.

"At one location, victims are provided with high-quality medical care, immediate psychological support, careful forensic examination and safe coordination with the police, prosecutors, psychologists and social workers," Dr. Armina Rovcanin Osmanovic, a gynecology specialist at General Hospital 'Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas', said at the start of the official opening event.

Every person who comes to the clinic is guaranteed priority treatment, anonymity, safety and dignity.

At today’s ceremony marking the official launch of the clinic, it was described as an example of cross-sectoral cooperation among all relevant institutions aimed at providing concrete assistance to victims of this serious criminal offence. The goal is to protect victims, preserve their dignity and prevent further traumatization.
