Sarajevo police discovered over 200 guests in a local restaurant on Saturday evening and issued a 1,250 euros fine for the restaurant owner for breaching the epidemiological measures.
The police raid comes at the moment when Sarajevo Canton is recording a slight increase in new coronavirus cases, believed to be a consequence of not respecting the measures imposed by authorities to contain the virus spread.
Currently, the bars and restaurants are open but not more than 30 persons are allowed indoors in Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, the region where the capital is located.
Sarajevo Canton authorities announced an urgent session on Monday at 9 am, to discuss the development of the situation concerning the epidemic.
“Our fellow citizens are dying. The state and the FBiH are silent about vaccination. Sarajevo Canton did not manage to get the vaccines on market despite strong efforts,” said cantonal prime minister Edin Forto.
Sarajevo University Clinical Centre detected new 67 infections from Sarajevo Canton, while 114 patients are hospitalised in its Covid-19 wards.
