Canton of Sarajevo this year recorded 35 percent more arrivals and about 25 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period last year.

According to Adisa Kusundzija, spokeswoman for the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board (TZ KS), this is a record year in terms of tourists and has surpassed the record of 2019.

“From the beginning of this year, we started recording an increase in arrivals and overnight stays. We already announced then that this could be a record year, which turned out to be near the end of 2023. We are recording about 35 percent more arrivals and about 25 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period last year. When we talk about statistical arrivals, foreign guests dominate, which make up 60 percent compared to 30 percent of domestic guests,” said Kusundzija.

She stated that these numbers have also changed compared to the period of the coronavirus pandemic, when domestic tourists dominated.

“We have the most guests from Turkey, followed by Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Germany, the United States of America, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Guests from China have returned to us again, among these top ten”, she said.

A large number of guests are expected in Sarajevo this year during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Sarajevo is traditionally recognized as a regional center with the best entertainment and public events for New Year celebrations.
