Sarajevo sees strong tourism growth in early 2025

The Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board has reported a positive trend in tourism for the first four months of 2025, with steady growth in both tourist arrivals and overnight stays. The figures confirm that Sarajevo is increasingly recognised as a desirable destination for both domestic and international travellers.
In April alone, the number of tourist arrivals rose by 22 percent, while overnight stays surged by 42 percent compared to the same month in 2024. The majority of foreign visitors during this period came from Turkey, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Montenegro, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
This upward trend has been consistent since the start of the year. Between January and April, Sarajevo recorded a 15 percent increase in visitor numbers and a 24 percent jump in overnight stays compared to the first four months of last year.
Haris Fazlagic, president of the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board, attributed the growth to the city’s rich cultural scene, authentic charm, popular festivals, and strengthened international promotion efforts.
“Thanks to Sarajevo’s unique atmosphere, diverse events, and improved visibility abroad, we continue to attract tourists from across the globe — particularly from the Middle East, Europe, and Asia,” Fazlagic said.
He added that expectations for the summer season are high: “With such promising spring results, we’re entering the summer with great optimism. Sarajevo is ready to warmly welcome all visitors looking for an unforgettable experience.”
