As of Tuesday morning, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been covered by a thick layer of fog and smog, which made it the most polluted city not only in Europe but also in the world, according to official data.
Sarajevo surpassed the Pakistani and Indian cities of Lahore, Karachi, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai as well as Dhaka in Bangladesh and Baghdad in Iraq. According to the IQAir platform measurements, North Macedonia capital Skopje was also in top 10 most polluted cities of the world on Tuesday morning.
Sarajevo topped the list several times already over the past weeks, which raised the alarm among its population.
The authorities in the Sarajevo Canton declared the ‘warning’, considering the amount of pollutants measured in the air.
