The new measures are coming into effect as of Friday.

The Canton was the first region in the country to tighten the measures, imposing the partial lockdown last weekend in an attempt to contain the virus spread and intensifying the control of how all the measures are being obeyed throughout the week.

Although the daily figures are increasing in all parts of Bosnia, the situation seems to be the most dramatic in the capital, where healthcare authorities have been recording three-digit coronavirus case daily for weeks.

Over the last 24 hours, the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton reported 689 new cases, bringing the total of currently active cases to 5,129.
