On this day in 1921, the Zeljezničar Football Club was founded by the workers of the railway workshop in Sarajevo.
In order for the club to be officially registered, it had to play two friendly matches, so they tried to make it so. First, on September 17, 1921, Zeljo, as it is affectionately called, was defeated by SASK, and a day later ut was defeated by the same team, and since then the Blue Story has begun in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The coach of the first team was Adolf Schmidt, while the president was Milutin Rakovic.
Zeljo left the biggest mark in Yugoslav football when it reached the title of national champion in 1972, and the team, led by Ivica Osim, was close to the UEFA Cup final in 1985, but it was stopped by Hungarian Videoton.
The celebration of the Blue Jubilee's birthday started yesterday when Zeljeznicar and Velez played a draw, and the fans decided to make a real performance in honour of their beloved team at the Railway Station in Sarajevo last night.
