They were not detained. Rimac and Cosic have the status of suspects in a case being investigated by the Special Department for Organized Crime and Corruption (POSKOK) of the FBiH Prosecutor's Office.

''During the searches, mobile phones, computer equipment and documentation necessary for the further course of the investigation were temporarily seized,'' Hadzihajdarevic said.

The searches were conducted as part of an investigation into the New Life clinic, which provided assisted reproduction and embryo storage services before changing its name to Northwestern Medical Center IVF. The clinic was subsequently closed, after which the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation, later taken over by POSKOK, concerning the protection of patients’ rights and the continued storage of biological material that had been kept at the clinic.

The closure of the New Life clinic caused significant problems and distress for its patients, who were uncertain about what would happen to their biological material and whether it was being handled in accordance with the law. The embryos and other biological material were physically secured at the clinic for months, but it was unclear who was legally responsible for ensuring their proper handling.

The embryos and biological material stored at the clinic were eventually taken over by Zenica Cantonal Hospital.
