Serbia extradites organised crime suspect Darko Elez to Bosnia

Serbia has extradited Darko Elez to Bosnia, where he is charged with involvement in major organised crime operations which include murders and other crimes.

The Belgrade Appellate Court decided in February that all the conditions for Elez’s extradition have been met. The Court rejected an appeal by Elez’s lawyer who argued that the crimes his client is charged with in Bosnia, which took place between 2005 and 2009, stem from before the agreement between the two countries on extraditions came into force.
Darko Elez, born in 1980, stands accused of organized crime in connection with several serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, robbery other crimes committed between 2005 and 2009.

He is also wanted concerning an ongoing investigation the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and the Interior Ministry of Bosnia’s semi-autonomous Republika Srpska (RS) entity are conducting into “serious crimes committed in the area of ​​Istocno Sarajevo (East Sarajevo) and BiH, including two murders committed by mafia liquidation methods in 2018 and 2019, the planning of and attempted murders in the area of Istocno Sarajevo and Bijeljina, extortion, intimidation and other crimes.”
