War criminal Vinko Pandurevic, commander of the Zvornik Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, received a commemorative medal in Belgrade several days ago for “participating in the defence against NATO aggression against Yugoslavia,” against which Serbia’s Youth Initiative for Human Rights reacted.

On Tuesday, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, General Milan Mojsilovic, received the delegation of the Club of Generals and Admirals of Serbia, led by the President of the Club, retired General Milomir Miladinovic.

On that occasion, Mojsilovic handed over military decorations for “participation in the defence against NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia” to retired generals Milomir Miladinovic and Vinko Pandurovic, according to the official website of the Serbian Ministry of Defence.

The Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia reacted to the handing over of the commemorative medal to a war criminal.

“The Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia condemns the decision of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army Milan Mojsilovic to present a commemorative medal for participation in the defence against NATO aggression to Vinko Pandurevic. Commemorative medals for the defence of the country and monuments like the one given to Ratko Mladic, cannot be obtained by war criminals in a democratic society,” said the Youth Initiative.

Pandurevic is one of several Bosnian Serbs who were convicted of taking part in the Srebrenica genocide, who served their sentences and were released afterwards.
