Buildings housing Serbian local governments and other institutions of the Serbian government in four municipalities in northern Kosovo remain blockaded, with police stationed at the entrances, according to RTS.
The Director of the Office for Kosovo, Petar Petkovic, told RTS that Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, is conducting “ethnic cleansing.” Petkovic emphasized that these institutions are of vital importance to the Serbs, arguing that they are not parallel but legal institutions. “The Serbian people have been brought to a dead end,” Petkovic stated.
Police, armed with long guns, are stationed in front of the headquarters of the Provisional Municipal Bodies in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, as well as in Leposavic, and have been positioned in Zvecan and Zubin Potok for some time.
Police presence was visible this morning in Kosovska Mitrovica, particularly in front of the building housing the Office for Kosovo, the building of the Provisional Municipal Body, and near the bridge on both sides.
Since last night, Italian Carabinieri forces have increased their presence on the bridge, bringing in armored vehicles after the police operation.
It is important to recall that in a coordinated action by Kosovo security forces on Friday afternoon, buildings housing the remaining institutions of the Republic of Serbia in the northern municipalities, including municipal services, the Office for Kosovo, the Pension Fund, and the public utility company, were closed. The building of the Provisional Municipal Body of Kosovska Mitrovica was also shut down, a year after similar actions were taken in the other three northern municipalities. Additionally, offices believed to have been used for relocated municipal services in recent months were closed.
The actions of the Kosovo police have been condemned by the European Union and the United States.
