Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that the President’s son Danilo Vucic was not part of the state delegation that attended the ceremony marking Republika Srpska (RS) Day on Monday, but that this not stop “the tycoon media from continuing the campaign of brutal lies and insults.”
“Danilo was not in the state delegation, he went on his own initiative, and it’s not the first, but the eighth year that he has gone to the RS and the President said he was very proud of Danilo, proud that he raised him in the spirit of loving the RS and that, year after year, he feels he wants to be there on that grand and important date for the RS and the Serbian people,” Brnabic told the pro-regime Pink TV, noting that the Serbian Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina announced Danilo Vucic’s visit because he is a protected person.
“Danilo Vucic is a protected person, unfortunately, he has to be as he is the President’s child. Unfortunately, he has to be protected because of some other things, in large part thanks to the tycoon media that drew a target on his forehead so many times and identified him with one clan or another,” she said.
The Prime Minister, however, did not offer an explanation as to how come citizen Danilo Vucic who, as she said, went to East Sarajevo on his own initiative, happened to be up on the stage with senior officials. Instead, she focused on independent media, criticizing them for reporting on this in the first place.
“We showed that he is not a member of the delegation and then yesterday absolutely all tycoon media, Danas, N1, Nova S, the media paid from (Dragan) Solak’s kitchen, started attacking President Vucic,” said Brnabic, adding that what they are doing is “below the belt” even by their standards. N1, Nova S and Danas are part of United Group, which is owned by Dragan Solak.
“This endangers the basic human rights of the Vucic family members, especially of Danilo Vucic. I won’t say – this has to stop, because it won’t stop,” said the Prime Minister.
We are fighting here for a normal and decent Serbia, said Brnabic, adding it is uncivilized to brutally persecute a young man just because his father is the Serbian President.
Brnabic said her job, as the Prime Minister, is to work for Serbia. “But this is also a part of my job – the fight for a normal and decent Serbia. If we don’t stand up to this, there will be no end to it, anyone’s family will be harassed like the family of President Vucic,” said the Prime Minister.
