Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic arrived at the Republika Srpska entity National Assembly (RSNA), on Tuesday, where she met with the leadership of the RS Parliament. This was followed by an RSNA formal session at which Brnabic spoke.
Greeted by applause, Brnabic thanked those present for the invitation and noted that she was honoured to be in Banja Luka after the RSNA adopted the Declaration on the Protection of the Rights of Serbs.
“The day we held the Assembly session was the day when we celebrated our unity. The day when we should put aside all our differences and highlight what unites us. On the day of the All-Serb Assembly, we quite openly and unequivocally called for peace, respect and reverence for all the victims of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we called for full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement. We have not threatened any people with a single word, we have not threatened the territorial integrity of any state,” Brnabic stressed.
She added that the Declaration will soon be ratified by the Serbian Parliament. The goal is to protect the Serbian language, script, culture, traditions, and customs.
The All-Serb Assembly had the future in mind and aimed to show that Serbs were not a threat to anyone, she pointed out.
The Speaker added that Serbia invested a lot of money and energy, in the construction across the region, in highways from Croatia to Bulgaria, from Hungary to North Macedonia, and noted that Serbia is building a highway to Sarajevo, to Durres, etc.
“After 33 years, we introduced a direct airline line to Mostar. Serbia is opening the possibility for the exchange of people and goods. During Covid, Serbia donated everything to the region, from equipment, and tests, to vaccines. When others were in trouble, Serbia helped both in manpower and financially. Serbia has invested over € 100 million in the RS through various support programs,” she said.
Brnabic noted that Serbia suffers because some “in the neighbourhood do not recognize its territorial integrity with Kosovo.”
She stressed that the 2015 attack on Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during the Srebrenica genocide commemoration in Potocari was not investigated.
“The latest fabricated incident regarding the stay of our cadets, commemorating the suffering of Serbs in the Drina River valley and the battle on Kozara, showed the desire of certain politicians to portray reality as it is not, to manipulate and sow hatred between peoples, which is not in the interest of either Serbs or Bosniaks,” she stressed.
Serbia respects the Dayton Peace Agreement, the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the inviolability of the RS, the Speaker added, noting that her country strongly opposes the collapse of the Dayton and the violation of the powers of the RS.
