Serbia’s Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that Bosniak politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina are "turning the most normal topic of police cooperation in the tourist season into political intrigues and threats" and that this is why the Serbian Ministry of Interior will not be sending police officers to BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity.
In a written statement, Dacic said that the decision was withdrawn, “so that it would not serve as an artificial reason for attacks on Serbia and the Serbian people.”
“Given that Bosniak politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina are turning the most normal topic of police cooperation during the tourist season, which has already existed in the entire region for more than ten years, into political intrigues and threats, the Interior Ministry of Serbia will not allow anyone to look for excuses for conflicts and preparations for war. That is why we will not send police officers to the RS so that it would not be used as an artificial reason for attacks on Serbia and the Serbian people,” said Dacic.
On Friday the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed on June 18 in Trebinje, announced that policemen from Serbia were supposed to work during the tourist season together with their colleagues from RS in Banja Luka, Foča and Trebinje.
