The Croatian Public Health Institute (HZJZ) reported on Tuesday that 37.3% of the total population or 45% of the adult population had been vaccinated to date and that Zagreb had the greatest percentage of those inoculated against coronavirus.

As of 5 July a total of 2,687,515 doses of Covid-19 vaccines had been administered, HZJZ reported. A total of 1,511,987 people have received at least one dose and 1,175,528 have received both shots.

Zagreb has the highest percentage of people who have been vaccinated or 43.4% of its total population or 52.7% of its adult population.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County has the highest percentage of the total population who have received both shots (31.9%).

When it comes to adult population, the City of Zagreb is best performer as two fifths, that is 39.4%, of its adults have fully been vaccinated.

“Even though we didn’t reach our target of 50 or 55 percent of the population being inoculated by the end of June, we cannot be unsatisfied. Those 45% of citizens who have been inoculated, have expressed their confidence in the health system and in the protection of their own lives and that of others,” HZJZ director, Krunoslav Capak said.

We are faced with new challenges that the Delta variant brings and vaccinating citizens with two doses of whichever vaccine, is the only solution to protect the most vulnerable group of citizens and for us to to remain calm during the entire tourism season, said Capak.
