Officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) launched a major operation this morning in the Bijeljina area and the Brcko District, targeting organized crime, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
“The operation, named ‘Sljunkara 2,’ is being conducted under the supervision of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on Bijeljina and the Brcko District. We are executing orders issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The searches aim to uncover evidence related to organized crime, unauthorized drug trafficking, and money laundering, as outlined in the Criminal Code of BiH, as well as the illegal production and distribution of narcotics under the Criminal Code of the RS,” SIPA spokesperson Jelena Miovcic told FENA.
Miovcc declined to provide details on the number of locations involved or whether arrests were expected at this stage.
She emphasized that SIPA operates across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“When we conduct operations, we don’t announce them in advance. However, we sometimes seek assistance or cooperation from other law enforcement agencies in BiH, such as the RS Ministry of Interior (RS MoI), the FBiH Police Administration (FUP), or other police bodies. In this case, the RS Ministry of Interior was informed due to specific cooperation requirements,” Miovcic explained.
This marks SIPA’s third operation since the National Assembly of Republika Srpska passed controversial laws restricting SIPA’s activities within the entity. It is also the agency’s largest operation to date.
