With today's figures, the weekly case average has dropped to below 1,000, namely to 842, which allows the government to further ease the restrictions.

"The numbers of new cases are constantly falling, which makes us happy and gives us hope that the epidemic is subsiding," Health Ministry official Marija Magajne told a press conference.

The number of active cases in the country currently stands at 14,441, which is 8.4% fewer than on Monday. To date, 3,654 people infected with COVID-19 have died, and 945 COVID patients are currently receiving hospital treatment. About 55,000 people have so far been vaccinated against the disease.
