The epidemiological situation in Slovenia is deteriorating as 2,145 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, the largest number since the start of this year.
The test positivity rate was 29.1 percent, and nine more people have died.
Currently, there are 14,029 active cases in the country. The seven-day average of infections is 1,204, while the 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 people is 665.
According to the Health Ministry, 427 infected people are being treated in hospitals and 122 of them are in intensive care. The youngest hospitalised patient is a three-year-old child, while the youngest patient in intensive care is 35 years old.
A total of 50.7 percent of the population have been fully vaccinated.
Prime Minister Janez Janša warned earlier this week that such a fast spread of the fourth wave of the epidemic would lead to a new lockdown unless the pace of vaccination accelerated and everyone observed the anti-epidemic measures.
