Snow is disrupting most parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday morning, with services issuing special traffic warnings for the road sections over mountain passes, where snow is causing delays, according to the Bosnian automobile association BIHAMK.

Strong wind creates snow drifts and makes traffic difficult in the wider areas of Livno, Tomislavgrad, Glamoc and Bosanski Grahovo – in the southwest of the country.

In addition, due to the low temperature, the drivers are adviced to pay attention to ice, especially on sections in higher altitude areas, as well as the areas around and on bridges, viaducts and near the tunnels.

Drivers are urged to be careful and to comply with all traffic regulations.

It is prohibited to drive heavy-duty motor vehicles on the following roads:

– Bosanski Petrovac – Drvar – Bosansko Grahovo,

– Glamoc – Mliniste i

– Drvar – Glamoc

On the regional road Karanovac – Knezevo, the road is passable to Vidovo Vrelo, and driving further to Knezevo is not recommended, as well as on the road Knezevo – Ugar. Due to the great interest in the route Banja Luka – Ski Center Babanovac (Vlasic Mt), BIHAMK recommends using the route Banja Luka – Jajce – Donji Vakuf – Turbe – Babanovac.

At the border crossings: Izacic, Hadzin Potok, Velika Kladusa, Gradina, Gradiska and Orasje, there are long queues of vehicles exiting Bosnia and Herzegovina. At other border crossings, passenger vehicles do not wait longer than 30 minutes.

Due to difficult winter conditions, traffic for goods vehicles at the Izacic border crossing was suspended.

Traffic is still suspended on the Jablanica – Blidinje main road due to damaged road.

Works are underway on the M-17 main road in Donja Jablanica, in the Komadinovo vrelo locality (Sarajevo – Mostar road), which is why traffic is occasionally slow, with possible short stops.

Traffic for vehicles over 5 tons of the maximum permitted weight is prohibited at the Karakaj border crossing (near Zvornik). Freight vehicles over 5 t are diverted to the Bratunac or Rača border crossings, while buses can use the Sepak border crossing. Freight vehicles can drive through the Sepak border crossing from 9 am – 1 pm and from 10 pm to 6 am, BIHAMK said
