The northern regions of the Zenica-Doboj Canton are expecting the repair of the 110 kV power line near Nemila to restore normal electricity supply, according to Dzavid Alicic, Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration.

Alicic reported that parts of Tesanj, Zepce, and Usora currently have electricity, while Zavidovici, Maglaj, and Doboj Jug have been without power since 7:15 am Wednesday.

“A major breakdown occurred on the power line near Nemila, Zavidovici and Maglaj, which already faced issues with low-voltage networks. They too are without power. There are still problems in Vares and Kakanj, but repairs are underway. The critical task remains to fix the 110 kV power line near Nemila,” Alicic explained.

Tesanj secures a partial power supply

Tesanj Mayor Suad Huskic confirmed that partial power was restored on Wednesday afternoon from Doboj's direction.

“Currently, about 30% of our municipality has electricity. The remainder will be reconnected once the Nemila power line is repaired, as the fault between Maglaj and Zavidovici has already been addressed,” Huskic said.

He noted that essential services, including the General Hospital Tesanj, the Public Utility Company “Rad” for water supply and wells, and communication systems, were prioritized in receiving electricity.

“Some parts of our municipality have been without power for over 48 hours, making online schooling impossible due to GSM system outages. We hope the heating plant, which serves around 700 households and public institutions—excluding the hospital, which has its own heating system—will soon be reconnected,” he added.

Roads cleared, budget session planned

Huskic reported that all main roads are cleared and passable, though some secondary roads in the municipality remain challenging to navigate. He hoped the municipality could hold a council session on Friday to adopt the budget for the upcoming year.

“The draft budget for 2025, amounting to just over 30 million Bosnian marks (some €15 million), was adopted by the previous council in September and has since undergone public review in October and November. We plan to present it to the council tomorrow for final approval,” Huskic concluded.
