Srebrenica genocide commemorated in Salzburg

On the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the committed Srebrenica genocide, organizers in Salzburg, Austria, dedicated their activities during these July days to the remembrance of the genocide committed in the heart of Europe after the Holocaust. On the actual anniversary of the committed genocide in Srebrenica, lists of the innocently killed and photographs of the Mothers of Srebrenica were exhibited at Rezidenzplatz.

"Many came and, with sadness and tearful eyes, reviewed the lists on which 8,372 innocently killed Bosniaks in Srebrenica are arranged in long columns in alphabetical order. The Book of Condolences was also exhibited, its pages filled out by all well-meaning people who sympathize with the innocently killed victims.

They were mute because there is not much to say on this day, but rather to pay tribute to the innocently killed victims through silence, prayer, and remembrance. We know that the 'Srebrenica Flower' is a symbol of suffering and a reminder of the victims, and on this occasion, the flowers were available to everyone who expressed a desire to proudly and honorably wear the flower on their lapel. Tears washed many faces, and a loud scream of pain was heard. The marble whiteness of Potocari and the bundle of light bones on the tabut remain today as a seal of the committed genocide against the innocent, unarmed Bosniak people in Srebrenica, in the heart of Europe, the United Nations, and the great powers," the organizers announced.

The Organizing Committee extended their gratitude to the esteemed guests, the city authorities of Salzburg, and everyone who paid tribute to the victims.
"A clear message was sent from this place in Salzburg to the entire world that the victims are not forgotten and that a genocide like the one in Srebrenica must never happen again to anyone, anywhere," they stated.

The organizers of this event were the "BH Diaspora Salzburg" Association, the "H. O. HELP OTHERS - POMOZI DRUGIMA" Association, the "Dzemat Bosna" Bosniak Cultural Association, the "Dzemat Salzburg" Bosniak Islamic Community, KUD "Behar", KUD "Safir", the "BH kontakt Salzburg" Association, and "Zemzem" - Pongau.
