Strong storms hit Bosnia’s northwestern area of Krajina on Sunday and resulted in the death of a man in Bihac and immense material damage across several towns.

While the towns of Bihac, Cazin, Velika Kladusa, Kostajnica and other places in the northwest of BiH experienced heavy rain and strong gusts of wind, the rest of the country is experiencing extreme heat.

A local in Bihac died at the hospital after a tree fell on him due to the storm, BHRT reported. The powerful winds tore down trees and fences and destroyed roofs.

According to the data of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, extremely high air temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius were recorded in Bihac on the same day.

The orange meteorological alarm is in force for the Bihac area, which indicates that the weather is very dangerous and that human casualties are possible.

The situation is similar in Cazin, where the wind even knocked down a truck with a trailer.

Red and orange warnings were issued for the entire territory of BiH on Sunday. In addition to high temperatures, winds of up to 70 km / h have been announced in certain regions.
