A student was injured on Thursday morning at 8 am in the courtyard of the Sarajevo Secondary School of Metalworking, according to the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior.

Police officers from the Centar Police Department were dispatched to the scene following a report of the incident.

“Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that one minor had used a firearm and inflicted an injury to the lower leg of another minor,” stated Mersiha Novalic, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton.

The injured student is being treated at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS), where the extent of the injury is being assessed. Meanwhile, the student responsible for the shooting is currently in police custody.

“The injured minor has been diagnosed with a minor physical injury,” Novalic added.

The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office has been informed, and police officers are continuing their investigation on the ground.
