A dramatic incident unfolded yesterday afternoon in the village of Zovi Do near Nevesinje, where a suspected migrant attacked a local resident by throwing a grenade and later opened fire on police before being fatally shot.
According to the family of the targeted resident, a man identified as M.G. was grazed by shrapnel from the grenade, while two young men who were with him escaped unharmed. Following the grenade attack, the suspect barricaded himself in an abandoned house and began shooting, prompting police to block off the area.
A police statement confirmed that no civilians were in the vicinity during the standoff, and no injuries were reported.
“The individual does not speak or understand the Serbian language and refuses to communicate in English with police officers,” the statement noted.
Later that evening, around 11:00 PM, police neutralized the suspect who had been firing from the abandoned house.
According to reports from RTRS, the suspect had stolen a sheep from a local resident a few days earlier and had physically attacked him on the day of the incident, leading the resident to call the police.
