Economist Svetlana Cenic appeared on N1's program Pressing, where she offered sharp criticism of the current political situation and ruling parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). According to her, nothing has changed, and the coalition known as "Troika" has acquiesced to the demands of Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, and Dragan Covic, leader of the Croat Democratic party (HDZ BiH). She claimed that the previous Federation of BiH (FBiH) Prime Minister, Fadil Novalic, at least left a budget surplus during his tenure.

When asked if the current leaders understand the consequences of their decisions on citizens’ daily lives, Cenic argued that they are aware but choose to ignore these consequences. “Otherwise, we wouldn't hear such stories. It's laughable when Milorad Dodik blames the previous government, even though he has been in power for 18 years. In 18 years, you can produce a university graduate. None of these people are new to politics. It's the same faces recycled repeatedly,” she stated.

The economist also criticized the broader political system, claiming it devalues education and relies on cheap entertainment to pacify the population. “This system is designed to suppress critical thinking and produce a passive, unengaged populace,” she said.

On the topic of the Democratic Action Party’s (SDA) governance, Cenic acknowledged some of Fadil Novalic's accomplishments, particularly maintaining a budget surplus. However, she questioned the reforms promised by Nermin Niksic, a key figure in Troika, during his previous term as Prime Minister from 2010 to 2014. “What did we see then? Nothing. And now we're hearing the same promises of reforms,” she remarked.

The guest predicted that Trojka's governance would leave behind greater chaos, Covic’s leadership would result in fewer Croats in BiH, and Dodik’s tenure would leave “nothing at all.” She accused Dodik of selling off resources under the guise of patriotism.

“What kind of patriotism is it to sell everything off, ruin banks, and create a budget deficit while claiming to love Republika Srpska?”

Turning to Dragan Covic, she argued that his leadership has done little for the Croat population in BiH, which continues to decline. “He cannot blame Zeljko Komsic for this. If people had better conditions in their own country, they wouldn’t leave,” she said, noting that many Croats find greater security with their EU-backed Croatian passports.

The Bosnian economist concluded by questioning Troika's promises of change, stating that the situation is now the same, if not worse. She highlighted cases of nepotism, such as the appointment of Ramo Isak as FBiH's Minister of Interior, while his sons occupy other prominent positions. “We’ve seen nepotism before, but not to this extent,” she said.

Her criticism extended to the lack of transparency in budget spending and disaster relief funds. “Revenue flows in every day, yet we’re told there’s no budget for emergencies. Where has the money gone?” Cenic asked, emphasizing the need for accountability in governance.
