The headquarters of the Southeast European Space Association (SESA) will be in BiH for the next four years, and according to the director of that association, Anes Hadziomerovic, the space programme is of great importance and represents a huge step forward for BiH.
The SESA consists of countries from the region – Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The SESA Management Board decided that the Association's headquarters will be in BiH.
“SESA was born from the desire for some kind of cooperation because we realized that we are much stronger when we cooperate and when we share our technology and experiences than when we develop individually,” said Hadziomerovic.
He added that one of the plans is to launch a satellite into space at the beginning of next year.
“One of the main goals of SESA is promotion and activities in the space program, where we plan to launch a satellite into space at the beginning of next year, thanks to our partners – the Indian Space Agency,” he said.
Other than performing certain functions, the satellite will also carry drawings by children from the region into space as part of the “Let's send children's imagination into space” initiative.
“The response was unexpectedly high and all the photos will be stored in a satellite that will be sent into orbit and circle the planet,” he said.
He explained that the SESA is of great importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Alone, BiH could not face the challenges and compete with the “big players”, he said, but added that “in this way, when five countries are united, and we are planning to expand to some other countries, we share all our technology and problems.”
