The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the first-instance verdict against three former members of the wartime Bosnian Croat forces, charged with persecution and abuse of the Bosniak citizens of Mostar during the war of the 1990s, the Radio Free Europe reported. Pročitaj više

The court sentenced Nedzad Tinjak to 12, Jure Kordic to three and Drazen Lovric to one year in prison.

According to a press release, the trio were found guilty of participating in anti-legal capture of the Bosniak civilians from the Mostar area.

Kordic was found guilty of inhuman treatment of civilians, and Tinjak for inhuman treatment of civilians and rape at the Vojno camp.

The Vojno camp was one of the most infamous prisons run by the Croat Defence Council (HVO), where the Bosniak civilians were kept from June 1993 to March 1994, including a number of women and children.

The prison was located in Bijelo Polje, north of Mostar.

Within the same verdict, the court acquitted Nedzad Tinjak, Dario Susac, Nuhan Sikalo, Dario Mihalj, Stanko Skobic, Tomislav Anicic and Slavko Golemac of the criminal offense of crimes against humanity, as it was not proven that they had committed the crime for which they were charged.

The Court stated that an appeal against final verdict is not allowed.
