A speedboat and an inflatable boat collided in the Strait of Splitska Vrata on Wednesday evening, leaving 12 people injured, and one of them suffered grave injuries, the police in the City of Split reported on Thursday.

The Split hospital reported that the seriously injured man had undergone surgery.

According to unofficial reports, most of those injured persons are Swiss citizens.

The cause of this maritime accident is still unknown.

The local police and representatives of the Split Port Authority are conducting an investigation.
