Bosnia's Islamic Community and the Muslim Charitable Society "Merhamet" along with representatives of the Turkish Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina sent off a convoy of 20 aid lorries from Tuzla on Monday for the vulnerable population in the provinces affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
“It’s with special emotions that we send off the aid convoy intended for the brothers and sisters in Turkey and Syria after they were hit by the devastating earthquake. This aid was organized and coordinated by the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and “Merhamet” BiH. This was the aid that the Islamic Community has been working on for all victims of the severe and devastating earthquake since it happened,” said Tuzla mufti Vahid ef. Fazlovic.
“The tragedy that struck us in Turkey caused by the earthquake that resulted in great damage to our country showed the strength of unity throughout the world and from all corners of the world. We had the opportunity to feel the help of all Muslims and other nations and people of goodwill. This is our opportunity to thank all of them today. We express our special gratitude to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, first of all, I want to express our gratitude to the Islamic Community in BiH, headed by Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic, then to the people at Merhamet, to all of you in BiH, who have shown great help, care and love for our country, Turkey, which is going through very difficult times. Recovery will follow and this convoy will be a nice gesture of help from the suffering Bosnian people to our suffering people in the provinces affected by the earthquakes,” the advisor for religious affairs of the Turkish Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yunus Keles said.
Lorries from Tuzla will cross the border between Bosnia and Serbia, and then towards Bulgaria. According to Kenan Vrbanjec, president of “Merhamet,” the convoy is expected to reach its destination on Wednesday evening.
