UN to mark International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide on July 9

The event will be hosted by Chaloka Beyani, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide.

The programme will feature testimonies from genocide survivors, remarks by the Chef de Cabinet on behalf of the UN Secretary-General, a video message from the President of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and an address by the Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to information published on the UN website.

The annual commemoration follows the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on May 23, 2024, which designated July 11 as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.
