Unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina rises slightly in June

As of the end of June 2025, a total of 316,927 people were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking an increase of 1,433 persons (0.45%) compared to the previous month, according to the BiH Labour and Employment Agency.

Women make up 59.46% of the unemployed, totalling 188,457 individuals. Year-on-year, the national unemployment rate decreased by 2.65% or 8,641 people.
Regionally, unemployment fell in Republika Srpska by 170 individuals (0.23%) and in the Brcko District by 67 (0.38%), but rose in the Federation of BiH by 1,670 persons (0.66%).
In terms of education levels, the largest groups of job seekers were those with secondary vocational education (KV, 31.34%) and high school diplomas (SSS, 28.65%).

During June, 13,723 new people registered as unemployed, while 12,360 individuals were removed from the records. Of those removed, 7,930 found employment, including 4,130 women.
Employers reported 2,023 job vacancies, while 7,897 employment contracts ended, nearly half affecting women (50.65%).
According to official data, 856,998 people were employed in BiH as of May 2025, including 392,497 women, a slight 0.1% increase in female employment compared to April.
