United Media said on Wednesday that its Nova TV will take part in the selection process for two international Emmy awards with the city of Athens.

A press release said that Nova was chosen by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

“Nova, a part of the United Media company, is pleased to announce a partnership with the city of Athens in the selection process for two semi-final rounds for the International Emmy Awards,” it said.

“Athens and Nova have been chosen to form a jury to decide the winners in two categories. Two jury panels will meet in Athens next September at an event which will include news conferences, visits by jury members to monuments of culture in Athens and a prestigious gala.

“The International Academy travels every summer, from June to September, to more than 25 locations for the semi-finals and the semi-final stage is a crucial step in the process of chosing candidates and provides an excellent opportunity for networking for the hosts and jury members approved by the Academy. The jury panels are made up of television and film industry, production and cinema creative industry professionals.

“This is the second year in a row that United Media has been invited by the Emmy Awards Academy to take part in the selection and nomination process during the semi-finals stage. Last year the event was in Dubrovnik and this year the company chose Athens for the meeting of top entertainment industry professionals. Nova is joining forces with Athens for the unobstructed selection process as well as the gala which is traditional at the end of the judging.

“The partnership with Athens guarantees the success of the event in Greece and draws the attention of the international media community to Athens which has often been the site of huge productions with world-famous stars. This important event allows Greece to strengthen its position in the world of artistic production and confirms that country’s potential and ability to host similar events by prestigious institutions through a partnership of powerful corporate players and public institutions.
