University students, professors record ‘Sarajevo ljubavi moja’ in sign language

On the occasion of April 6 - Day of the City of Sarajevo, the University of Sarajevo decided to present its city with a video of the song "Sarajevo ljubavi moja" (Eng. “Sarajevo, love of mine”) in sign language.

The video was recorded as part of the “School of Sign Language,” which was realized by the Student Support Office of the University of Sarajevo in partnership with the international organization UNICEF.

The “School of Sign Language” brought together a large number of students and academic staff of the University of Sarajevo, representing another way for the University of Sarajevo to demonstrate its commitment to creating equal conditions for access and active participation in higher education. The school will continue to be realized in the future following the great interest and demand. The video was recorded thanks to the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo and the head of the School, Jasminka Proho. The “Sarajevo, ljubavi moja” song was released by the late Bosnian singer-songwriter Kemal Monteno in 1976. the song gained a cult following and it is considered an evergreen homage to the city of Sarajevo. Monteno had named the single his favourite, and the song was played at his funeral on January 21, 2015.
