The US Ambassador to Belgrade, Christopher Hill, has urged Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to continue his constructive involvement in the dialogue with Pristina, saying that the United States will continue to support the European Union in the search for a solution to the situation in Kosovo.
Hill met with Vucic on Tuesday after the State Department and the US ambassador to Kosovo again asked Pristina to delay issuing fines to Kosovo Serbs who failed to replace their Serbian-issued car number plates with Kosovo ones. Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has agreed to extend the deadline for 48 hours.
Hill said that the US and the EU are acting in concert regarding Kosovo and announced further support to the EU's efforts in seeking a solution. He, however, noted that the 48-hour extension is too short for making progress in the search for a solution, and stressed the need for both Serbia and Kosovo to take a constructive approach to this matter.
