Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaverovic, the Croat and Bosniak Presidency members spoke with Derek Chollet the Counselor of the US State Department, Friday, regarding the present crisis in Bosnia and its security implications.
All three interlocutors agreed that all burning issues in BiH must be resolved within Bosnia’s state institutions and that the BiH Parliament is the only place where state laws should be discussed.
Chollet confirmed the US’ commitment to Bosnia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as the reform progress achieved over the past 26 years through the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement that ended the 1992-1995 war in the country.
In conversations with both BiH officials, Chollet noted that undermining the constitutional order and the Dayton Agreement by Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity are unacceptable and that their latest activities are not in the interest of the Serb-dominated entity.
He called on the de-escalation of the situation based on the strict adherence to the Constitutional and institutional order, and return to the reform path through dialogue in state institutions.
