It is disappointing that the officials who were blacklisted by US authorities have been appointed to high-ranking positions, the US Embassy in Sarajevo told N1, commenting on the post-election formation of authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We are disappointed with the appointments and election of sanctioned individuals to the leading positions,” the embassy told N1.
Following the October 2 election, HDZ BiH's senior member Marinko Cavara was appointed as Deputy Speaker of Bosnia's House of Representatives, while Milorad Dodik was elected as the President of Bosnia's Serb-majority entity Republika Srpska.
Both were sanctioned by the US Treasury Department among other things for undermining democratic processes in the country and the region.
